A genuinely different approach to oral care — but is simpler actually better?

SURI 2.0 toothbrush

My overall take

I have been using the new SURI 2.0 for six months as part of my regular product testing. It will not win a spec sheet comparison against Oral-B or Sonicare — but that is almost the point. SURI has made a deliberate bet that most of what electric toothbrushes add is noise, and the bet largely pays off.

The standout is battery life. Up to 40 days on a single charge is not a minor improvement — it is a category shift. For frequent travellers or anyone who finds themselves falling back to a manual brush because their electric one died, this matters more than it might sound. Consistent brushing is the single biggest driver of oral health outcomes, and dead batteries undermine that consistency.

The absence of an app is also a genuine feature, not a marketing spin. In practice, most people stop engaging with brushing apps within a week. A brush that does one thing — clean your teeth effectively — and does it reliably is more likely to be used correctly over time.

What I liked

The sonic vibration is smooth and effective without being aggressive. I saw good plaque removal along the gumline — comparable to Sonicare in daily use — without the kind of abrasive pressure that can contribute to gum recession over time.

One area I want to highlight specifically is implant care. The controlled sonic action and pressure sensor make it particularly well-suited to the healing phase following implant placement — roughly weeks 2 through 12 post-surgery. My implant patients need effective cleaning without aggressive pressure during this window, and SURI handles that well. It is a brush I now recommend to my implant patients with confidence.

Key highlights:

  • 40+ day battery life — a genuine category shift
  • No app required — straightforward and friction-free
  • Sonic vibration technology comparable to Sonicare
  • Aluminium body built to last
  • Plant-based heads and head recycling programme

What I didn’t like

Only one brushing mode may frustrate some users who want a softer setting for post-treatment use. It does include a pressure sensor that alerts you if you are pressing too hard — a useful safeguard against over-brushing. That said, if you have specific clinical needs — heightened sensitivity or early post-surgical recovery beyond the implant healing window — I would always recommend checking with your dentist or hygienist before switching.

The price is not low. At this range, you are paying partly for the sustainability ethos and the design, not just the cleaning performance. Whether that is worth it depends on your priorities.

Areas for improvement:

  • Single brushing mode only — though a pressure sensor helps prevent over-brushing
  • Premium price point
  • Not ideal for complex clinical needs without professional guidance

Who I’d recommend it to

In my experience, SURI works well for:

  • Frequent travellers who need reliable battery life
  • Patients who value simplicity and want to avoid app fatigue
  • Sustainability-conscious patients
  • My implant patients, particularly during the 2–12 week post-surgical healing phase

I would be more cautious recommending it to patients who need multiple modes, heightened sensitivity settings, or have complex post-surgical needs outside the implant healing window — always speak to me or your clinician at Enhance first.
