Designed as a state-of-the-art facility, Enhance now boasts ten surgeries, a dedicated oral surgery and implant suite, and an on-site research and training centre. This innovative environment supports complex dental treatments, patient education, and professional development.

Esther graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Leeds in 1995. She completed her vocational training in a busy mixed NHS and private practice in Yorkshire.

She temporarily left general practice and worked for two years as senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Royal Preston Hospital and The Lister Hospital in Stevenage. She was awarded membership of the faculty of dental surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in 2000.

Esther returned to general dental practice in Cambridge in 1999. At the end of 2001, she joined Chequer Hall Dental Practice and quickly established an enviable reputation for clinical excellence. She left in June 2008 to join Lau Berraondo as a Senior Associate at Enhance.

Esther’s main areas of interest are complex restorative and cosmetic dentistry, combining restorative and orthodontic treatments to achieve the best outcomes for her patients. Esther is a member of The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, an associate member of the American Academy and regularly attends many postgraduate courses. In recent years she has continued her education with year-long courses in restorative dentistry at the renowned Tipton training in Manchester and cosmetic dentistry with the British Society for Cosmetic Dentistry in London.

Esther has taken her interest in orthodontics to the next level and is a platinum Invisalign provider and recently completed a post graduate diploma in aligner therapy.

Esther prides herself in making her patients feel comfortable under her care. Her considerate nature and gentle touch has helped her establish great relationships with her patients, many of whom she has been looking after for over 20 years.

Outside of work, Esther loves spending time with her family and keeping fit with long dog walks and yoga.

Dr Patrick Abbott joined the Enhance Dental Team in 2014 from the Dental Branch of the Royal Air Force and is the Practice’s clinical lead for Endodontics. Patrick’s expertise in this area is highly regarded; particularly in the provision of root canal treatment under microscope.

Patrick graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1998, winning the award for Excellence in Operative Dentistry. He was then commissioned in the Royal Air Force as a Dental Officer, where he enjoyed a rewarding 16-years serving in the UK and overseas. During his RAF career, Patrick achieved Membership to the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP) and went on to achieve a MSc in Endodontics from the prestigious Eastman Dental Hospital, University College London, in 2010. A member of the British Endodontic Society, Patrick has been providing exceptional endodontic services to his patients, including treatment options for patients seeking more advanced and personalised care.

Patrick is also experienced in providing compassionate general dental care to his patients and utilises Enhance Dental’s advanced digital in-house crown-and-bridge facilities to provide tailored and personalised treatment. He is committed to continued professional development with the latest advancements in endodontic treatment through a rigorous post-graduate educational program.

Outside of work, Patrick is involved in several different local groups, including Ely Tigers RUFC where he recently became a rugby referee. He also enjoys sports and fitness pursuits through walking, cycling, skiing and rugby.

Dr. Ben Rowlands is a dedicated and compassionate dentist with a wealth of experience and expertise. After graduating from the University of Cardiff in 2012, Ben was one of only four UK dentists selected for a prestigious private vocational training program, which he completed at a renowned practice in Cornwall.

Ben’s career further advanced as he took on the role of Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he contributed to the care of trauma and cancer patients.

Returning to general practice, Ben served both the NHS and the military, initially as a Civilian Dental Practitioner in Harrogate, Yorkshire, and later as a Civilian Senior Dental Officer at RAF Wyton, Cambridgeshire.

Committed to delivering the highest standards of dental care, Ben has pursued extensive professional development. He is a member of the dental faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons and holds full membership in the College of General Dentistry. Richard Brookshaw is a highly skilled dental implant surgeon. He has placed more than 5000 implants and is one of only a handful of implant surgeons nationwide who can carry out implant surgery in patients with extreme bone loss, using specifically designed zygomatic implants.

Richard exclusively practises all aspects of implant dentistry, including hard and soft tissue augmentation, sinus grafting and same day implants.

He first qualified in 1996 from the University of Dundee. Then, in 1999, he gained his Master’s degree in Oral Surgery from the University of Sheffield and further extended his clinical qualification in 2001 by completing an 18-month Implant Training Programme.

Fahd qualified in 2003 from the University of Glasgow. He went on to develop a wide repertoire of clinical interests through various hospital posts and degrees. Fahd completed specialist training with distinction from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital Trust and King’s College London, and is currently clinical lead for periodontics in several award-winning practices.

Alongside his clinical commitments, Fahd continues to maintain an active interest in periodontal research and teaching. He actively participates in mentoring and training dentists and hygienists and has given numerous lectures to local, national and international audiences.

Fahd is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Odontology Presidents Clinical Research Prize by the Royal Society of Medicine in relation to his work on antimicrobial peptides. After graduating from the University of Leeds in 1997, Steve embarked on his professional journey by joining the Royal Air Force as a General Duties Dental Officer. He honed his skills during Vocational Training at RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire before embarking on a three-year exchange program with the Army in Germany. During this time, Steve provided dental care to soldiers, their families, and also had the opportunity to serve in Kosovo.

In 2001, Steve returned to the U.K. and continued his dental practice, dividing his time between England and Northern Ireland. His dedication to his profession led him to deploy to various regions, including Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In 2013, his expertise was recognized, and he was chosen for Loan Service with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in Borneo. There, Steve provided dental treatment to Bruneian military personnel and their families. He later returned to the U.K. in 2016.

In 2017, Steve’s journey took him to Cyprus, where he was stationed at RAF Akrotiri. Over the course of three years, he cared for British military personnel and their families. It was during this time that he completed his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, showcasing his commitment to professional development.

Steve’s next assignments led him to RAF Honington, near Bury St Edmunds, in 2020, and subsequently to RAF Waddington, near Lincoln, in 2021, following his return from the Falkland Islands. However, after careful consideration and with the aim of providing domestic stability for his family, Steve made the decision to leave the RAF. He is thrilled to have been chosen to work at Enhance, where he can channel his passion for general practice dentistry and focus on treating toothwear cases, a particular area of interest for him.

Helen takes a prevention focused approach, motivating her patients to improve their oral health and making sure they leave their appointments knowing the most effective ways of caring for their teeth and gums. She tailors her treatment to each patient, ensuring their individual needs are met and teaching them that implementing small changes at home will help their mouths feel fresher and stay healthier.

Helen aims to help her patients feel as comfortable as possible throughout treatment. She uses gentle techniques to put patients at ease, and particularly enjoys supporting nervous patients, listening to their concerns and helping them gain confidence and overcome their dental anxieties.

Helen is registered with the General Dental Council and is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy. She also takes on the important task of mentoring less experienced team members, guiding their professional growth.

Felicity’s presence as a senior staff member is highly valued by patients, as she provides a sense of reassurance and expertise throughout their dental journey. As the Clinical Manager, Felicity plays a vital role in ensuring that patients have a positive and comfortable experience, while addressing any concerns or enquiries they may have.

Since 2001, she has been an integral part of Lau’s team, and when Enhance opened its doors in 2008, Jemma took on the responsibility of managing the clinical environment.

In 2012, Jemma expanded her skill set by completing the Certificate in Dental Implant Nursing at King’s College Hospital in London. This accomplishment led her to establish the role of Implant Co-Ordinator within the practice, where she played a vital part in coordinating implant-related procedures and patient care.

Taking on a new role in 2013, Jemma transitioned to become the Business Manager at Enhance. Demonstrating her commitment to professional development, she achieved the ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in 2015. As the Business Manager, Jemma ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the practice, focusing on various aspects of business administration.

Jemma’s responsibilities extend to health and safety management, training coordination, compliance activities, and overseeing practice and patient accounts. She meticulously handles finance administration, ensuring that the practice remains financially stable and efficient.
